After selecting the language to be used by the installer, you'll select the default language for your virtual machine:

The installer can try to detect your keyboard mapping by letting you press a series of keys; if you're installing from the US, you can skip this.

Once your keyboard is set up, you'll need to assign a hostname to the system. I recommend something like "vpsdevel" that conveys the machine's purpose, but it's entirely up to you. Some people choose to name their systems according to a common theme, such as Greek letters.
